I get asked all the time how I became so passionate about health and wellness. People are curious about what sparked this journey, which has become my life’s mission to help others reach their fitness goals. Sitting down to write this, I’m buzzing with excitement and gratitude because sharing my story might just inspire someone else to take charge of their well-being.

My Background: A Journey of Self-Discovery

Growing up in Boulder, Colorado, surrounded by the stunning Rocky Mountains, being active was a no-brainer. I played sports and explored the outdoors with my family like it was second nature. But as I hit adulthood, things changed. Long hours at a desk job sucked me into a sedentary lifestyle. I relied on convenience foods and totally neglected my physical health. By my mid-twenties, I had gained weight, felt sluggish, and my self-esteem? It was in the toilet.

It’s funny how you can feel so lost but not know where to start. I tried fad diets and quick fixes, but they never stuck. Then, on my 28th birthday, everything clicked into place.

The Moment That Changed Everything

I woke up on my birthday feeling pretty down. A tough breakup, work stress, you name it. Scrolling through social media, I stumbled upon a post from a friend who had just completed this amazing hike in the mountains. Her words and those stunning photos hit me hard. In that moment, I knew something had to change.

I started small—short walks around my neighborhood, gradually upping the distance and intensity. Cooking at home more often, trying new recipes and flavors. These little victories gave me a boost, and before I knew it, I was craving more.

Discovering High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

About six months in, I found this local HIIT class that promised to transform my body in just 20 minutes per session. I was skeptical but decided to give it a shot. The workout was intense—burpees, jump squats, sprints—but the sense of accomplishment afterward was addictive. I was hooked! I started attending regularly and even became a certified HIIT instructor.

HIIT isn’t just about physical benefits; it’s also great for mental clarity. But what really drew me in was the community. In those 20 minutes, we were all pushing each other—sweat-drenched, exhausted, but exhilarated. That's when I came up with my favorite phrase: "Sweat is just fat crying!" It became a mantra for me and my fellow HIIT enthusiasts, reminding us that every drop of sweat was a sign of progress, not weakness.
